After five years, the duo Soft Palms of Julia Kugel (the Coathangers) and Scott Montoya (the Growlers) return with their new single “Radio” , a song that took inspiration from the world's current events, and shares this feeling of persecution and alienation resulting from hearing all the negative news and ideas going on.  We had the opportunity to talk with them about what inspires them the most to write this new album IN ECHO, that is planned to be out and finish this year but, that as Scott state “we are going with the flow, there is no rush and we have no deadline”, so we can keep following them to stay updated with the surprises they are preparing. “Last album was like a hug, but this new one is like a shout out to the world” Scott said.

On the other hand, Julia added “ The world has changed a lot during this recent years and this album appeared as a response and a way to express that even there is a lot of hate, violence and noise going on there is still light and fun”. They will continue working together on this album.

They also revealed to us the next song is almost ready and coming up, being part of this story the album has, now, focusing on the anxiety and all of the things that might put our nerves on, but also adding creativity and a lot of fun to the lyrics and video. Talking about the videos they shared Scott´s ability to design, create and edit the visuals for their audios and also one of their main goals: getting a Grammy, “Yes, the goal is the Grammy but also enjoying the process, expressing ourselves and create something together is part of what we are looking forward to”, shared Scott.

And for when to hear and see them on stage, next August 23-24, 2025 they will be presenting at Happy Sundays Fest in Long Beach, CA with a surprising guest, and also we can expect them to be in Mexico by the end of November, so definitely this will be a busy year for them and an exciting one for their crowds all over the world.

Have you heard them yet?
